Have Breakfast With Richard Branson Before Charity Swim

Imagine you could have breakfast with the one and only Sir Richard Branson. Just you and him chatting over a cup of tea and a bacon roll. What would you ask? What have you always wanted to know about one of the most famous men in the world?

Well, in aid of Cancer Research UK, you have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sit down and have a chinwag with the boss of the Virgin Group.

Richard is catching a Virgin Train from London Euston on Tuesday 30th August on his latest charity adventure, a daunting swim across the Irish Sea with 5 other celebrities ? including Ronan Keating and Pamela Stephenson – and you could be with him on that train.

The Swim is a celebrity-led challenge to cross the Irish Sea from Holyhead to Dublin in a 10-person relay. Almost three times the length of the English Channel, this 56-mile swim hopes to raise �1 million for Cancer Research UK’s lifesaving work.

The highest bidder will have the unique experience of 30 minutes of one-on-one time with Richard. This is a very rare chance to get advice and chat about ideas from a true entrepreneur… you could even find out which football team he supports, or give him some tips on his swimming technique ? the choice is up to you!

Details of the auction prize are as follows:

Highest bidder will be required to be at Euston Station at 8:30am Tuesday 30th August

One-to-one will last approx 30 minutes and will take place over a First Class breakfast onboard a Virgin Super Voyager travelling between London and Crewe.

The winner will travel on the train as far north as Crewe, and then be able to use the return portion of their First Class ticket to catch a Virgin Train back to London.

All proceeds of this auction will go directly to Cancer Research UK, so what do you think some one-on-one time with Richard Branson is worth, for a great cause?

The U.S. Fund for UNICEF has announced that top model, host and executive producer of Project Runway Heidi Klum is taking on yet another role, this time as the 2011 Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF Ambassador.

Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is one of the longest-running youth volunteer initiatives in America. For 61 years it has served as the original Kids Helping Kids campaign for American children, providing them with an impactful way of making a difference in the lives of their peers in other countries.

As the 2011 Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF Ambassador, Heidi Klum will serve as the spokesperson for the first ever online Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF Costume Party. This new digital aspect of the campaign will allow UNICEF supporters to participate in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF in a variety of fun, interactive ways. At trickortreatforunicef.org, supporters will be able to plan a Halloween party, share Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF stories, and create a virtual costume.

“I am excited to become part of a campaign that has such a special place in so many people’s hearts,” said 2011 Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF Ambassador Heidi Klum. “As a mom, I want my children to have everything they need to be safe, healthy and happy. I’m amazed at the work UNICEF does to provide vital support for children around the world?from education to nutrition, health care to clean water?in dire emergencies and all year round.”

Heidi Klum joins a long line of celebrity supporters, including Selena Gomez, Sarah Jessica Parker, Alyssa Milano, Maya Angelou, Meg Ryan, Jane Curtin, Katie Couric and other notables who have served as spokespersons for Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF. Ms. Klum also has recorded a public service announcement in support of the campaign.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Heidi Klum to the UNICEF family,” said President and CEO of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF Caryl Stern. “For more than half a century, the young and young-at-heart have participated in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, inspiring generations to further the cause of child survival. In its 60-plus years, the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign has raised more than $164 million for UNICEF’s lifesaving programs worldwide. The campaign got its beginnings more than 60 years ago when children across the United States were inspired to collect coins to help UNICEF aid children overseas who were enduring the after-effects of World War II.

Ever since then, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF has been a powerful way for people to help provide vulnerable children with the essentials for a safe and healthy childhood. Today, with 22,000 children dying from preventable causes each day, that mission is as urgent as ever, and the campaign is just as vibrant.

This year the iconic orange Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF donation box receives a hi-tech makeover with the addition of a Microsoft Tag. This QR code technology allows anyone with a web-enabled smartphone to scan the tag on the box to donate to the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign. Summer just wouldn't be the same without the Beach Boys

? Day 228 of Vintage 365 ?

There are certain songs that one automatically associates with each season. Obviously Christmas tunes get top billing in December, and come October Thriller and Monster Mash are required playing, but if we delve deeper, it's easy to see how particular songs and artists fit well into each time of the year.

A drizzly March afternoon is suits everything from slow jazz to Simon & Garfunkle, an effervescently golden September Sunday would seem a little less beautiful if it didn't have upbeat tunes by artists like The Andrews Sisters and Cab Calloway to help keep such days? ingrained energy buzzing.

For as many songs as we automatically tie winter, I think that the largest soundtrack of my life belongs to the summertime. While not comprised strictly of vintage songs, many of the tunes that - no matter what month of the year it is - whip my mind back in time to summers past, are pretty much all well-known and greatly loved classics.

As I sit here and type this post, it strikes me that it might have made more sense to do chat about this topic back in June when this summer was fresh, however because I wasn't able to post every day that month (remember the two Vintage 365 round-up posts?), I wasn't struck by the notion to do so back then.

Nevertheless, it's definitely still summer (for a little over a month more), and while we've got the sun beating down our necks, the seashore calling our name, and bathing suits at the front of the closet, it's high time we enjoy a fabulously fun song - and one of my all-time summer favourites - from 1962, The Beach Boy's Surfin' Safari.

It's amazing, I cannot hear this song without all but tasting the juicy hamburgers we grilled in the backyard when I was growing, smell Coppertone, feel the sublime Okanagan heat baking into my sun. I'm suddenly nine years old, swinging a hula hop wildly around my hips, the distant sound of motor boats bouncing across town from the lake all the way to our deck.

Music is incredible. It can take us back to last week or decades into the past. It helps, I find, illuminate memories with amazing clarity, and can bring forth a staggering array of emotions. In the jukebox of the hottest season of the year, it would be impossible for me not to play this - and several other - Beach Boys songs, they're a universal anthem for this fabulous time of the year

Most of the songs on my summer playlist are akin to this sparklingly fun early 60s tune. They have a great tempo, keep things light and breezy, hail from days long past, and posses the enchanting ability to both whisk me back in time and enhance the here and now.

I'm grateful for the songs of summer and all that they've meant to my life, and wanted to share this particular tune with you while the season was still going strong.

Kanye Performs 15-Minute Freestyle in Poland -- Watch

While Jay-Z stayed home to promote their 'Watch the Throne' collaboration album on his own, Kanye West performed a 15-minute freestyle in Poland on Tuesday night (Aug. 23).

Giving an extended "toast to the douchebags" during his set at Poland's Coke Live Music Festival, Kanye launched into an excruciatingly long Auto-Tune-aided freestyle version of his 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' single 'Runaway' with Pusha T, which was filmed by fans, and can be seen after the jump.

The lengthy improvisation was accompanied by writhing dancers and bookended by some live -- and offbeat -- MPC sampling triggered by the temperamental rapper. It all concluded with an emotional voice-cracking climax, during which Kanye apologized repeatedly for being such an a--hole.

Glee Cast Goes Glam

Here's something you don't often see on Glee, the television show anyway: its cast members going glam.

The cast (minus Amber Riley and Naya Rivera because of scheduling issues apparently), are taking part in this year's Fashion Night Out (to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, boost the industry's economy and put the fun back in shopping) and they are appearing in the pages of the September issue of Vogue magazine as part of the publicity for the campaign.

Fashion's Night Out, which started in 2009, is taking place 8 September in New York and Los Angeles stores.

The cast of Glee also filmed a music video for the event where they are performing David Bowie's Fashion and it looks like they are having a blast strutting their stuff on the catwalk. Check out the fun footage below:
