Female Stars Host Charity Jumble Sale For Oxfam

Elbows out for a jumble sale with a difference. On Sunday 26 February Dawn Porter and Gemma Cairney are hosting a jumble sale with their celebrity girlfriends to raise money for Oxfam's Get-together campaign to celebrate International Women’s Day ? and we all are invited!

Shoppers will get the chance to rifle through the clothes donated by Dawn and Gemma, along with bags of donations brought along by Caroline Flack, Kate Nash, Sara Cox, Cherry Healey, Jessie Cave, Brigitte Aphrodite, Gizzi Erskine, Grace Woodward and TV presenter and stand up comic Jeffrey Leach who are all coming along.

Dawn and Gemma are both busily recruiting more celebrity donors via twitter, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor is the latest stylish lady to pledge to donate a bag of fashion gems, tweeting: ‘I have jumble to give you ? I ALWAYS have jumble!’?

?At the so-called Rumble in the Jumble shoppers will be served by the stylish ladies themselves, and the event will include a pop up salon, acoustic music and an eclectic tombola with donated prizes including brand new designer pieces (Terry De Havilland shoes anyone?), and remote control helicopter flying lessons. Entry is �2 and everyone must bring a bag of clothes to donate. As Gemma Cairney says; ‘We are encouraging ALL peeps that come to bring their own swag bag filled with jumble so that we can donate whatever is left to Oxfam too, the desired effect is sheer chaos to be honest. But the important thing is that it will be a fantastic Oxfam Get-together event to celebrate International Women’s Day.’

The event also has a serious message. There are 1.3 billion people living in poverty worldwide ? more than two-thirds of them are women and girls. Events like the jumble sale will raise vital funds to support women around the world, and Oxfam is asking UK women to hold their own Oxfam Get-together events on or around International Women’s Day, 08 March.

? ?Oxfam’s Get-together campaign was launched on 17 January at an event hosted by Lauren Laverne, Miquita Oliver and Jane Sheperdson. Lauren, Miquita and Jane will all be holding their own Oxfam Get-together events, along with Brix Smith-Start and Sarah Cawood.

? ?As Dawn Porter says on her blog: ‘We are going to raise LOADS of money for Oxfam to help women around the world. So bring your jumble, buy some jumble, have a jumble…LET’S JUMBLE!’
